We haven't yet put the body on the Roadster shop chassis to take measurements but I'm wondering if anyone has fit this under a stock 66' hood?

Thanks

I can't get a 1" spacer to fit under my 68 SS hood, BBC sitting on Energy Suspension mounts and an Eddy R port RPM AG & 3"X14" air cleaner, just to give you an idea anyway, I also have a stock frame

ya, i'm not sure. I know the roadster shop chassis i'm using will probably decrease that room even more :(
I'd contact the Roadster Shop and tell them what you want to do and maybe they can tell you what motor mounts to use or how to get the engine low enough..?

Are you locked into a Whipple SC? maybe a Vortec style would fit easier? buddy has 1 on his ATK 355 in his high school 76? Camaro, I do see a low profile blower intake is an option but don't see where the actual height of the Whipple SC is, 6" thick inter cooler comes up a lot

A Maggie 2300 will barely fit under a 67 chevelle hood. That was with a stock frame with hooker mounts. I had to use the rear biased mounts to get it to clear. I believe the Maggie 2300 is 11.5" from the top of rear china wall on the block. The maggie hot rod 2650 is 12.55" and I know it won't fit without any modifications to the inner structure on the hood. I can't find dimensions on the Whipple 4.5 but it sure looks taller.

The edelbrock E force super charger is a super low profile twin screw that will fit in anything. This LS3 / eforce combo is right around 700hp at the crank. (‘72 chevelle for reference)
The E Force is a roots style using the Eaton TVS rotors rather than a scew style supercharger like the Whipple is. I believe the original poster is looking for a larger supercharger to go with the 427 he's building.

FWIW - I'm building a LS9 block/head based 396. Once I decided to build a 396 I sold the Maggie 2300 and bought a Kong LSA 2650. My target for the engine is 900hp at the crank on 93 octane pump gas. I'm planning on adding a flex fuel sensor to get a little more out of it with E85 in the tank. In addition, now if anyone asks what I have in my '67 I'll be able to honestly say a "396"...

I just saw your post in the build thread that the Whipple 4.5 is "13.5" from the valley" so it wouldn't fit with a stock hood. At least it wouldn't fit with a stock frame using the Holley mounts. Even the 2" steel cowl hoods seem to use the same inner structure so you'd have to modify that to get it to fit.

I'm planning on running a Kong 2650 when I LSA swap mine, really curious about that HUGE Whipple, though! Following for future info!
Kind of like this? The question you start to get into is how much boost do you want to run. I'm targeting 15-17 on my "396" LSA. My goal is 900hp at the crank on pump gas.

I'm running 12 lbs on my 416 with a ported LSA blower right now, and I still have plenty of room to spin it faster. Based on buddies with similar combos, I should be around 750-775rwhp in my CTS-V (finally ran a 9.92 @ 139 last week!). You'll have no problem meeting your goals with that massive Kong on top!

I kept the factory LSA block when I cracked a piston, going to use that as a base for my own Kong engine for the next project.

How is the hood clearance? Any pics?

Not sure what year Chevelle you're looking at but the LSAs seem to fit without hood clearance issues. I was going with a TVS2300 needed to use Holley's rear biased mounts to get it to clear the hood. With the LSA style supercharger I'm using the forward biased mounts to allow the A/C compressor to clear the front cross member.

Here's an article showing an LSA in a '66
