Some of you have seen the pictures of the SS454 truck I am building for my buddy. I have used the Aeroquip socketless type hose ordered from Summit on the whole project. We ordered it all but I need 3 more fitting to finish. I called a local shop and the guy said he what I needed.

Short version is drove across town to find out all they have is the regular braided line type hose ends. I get the BS sorry I didn't know you wanted that type. He then asks me why I wanted those and said they quit carrying that type because they had lots of problems with them. Mostly the hose end breaking off. I have never heard anything negative about them other than hard to slide on. I cured that problem by heating a few seconds with a heat gun.

Has anyone had any problems?

they don't have a reputation of problems. I think that guy was a typical sales type, bad mouthing whatever he doesn't have in stock to sell. How soon can you forget about him and his BS?

I totally agree! Im sure if they had a problem such as he mentioned, the whole performance world would know about it.

I was thinking the same thing too but it kind of worried me that 4 other shops didn't stock any either.

I used both the Aeroquip socketless and the Russell twist lock and what I've found is that the aeroquip hose starts cracking in less than a year. I had it in my Chevelle as well as my truck. Switched to the Russell on the Camaro and never had a problem.

I don't know what you are using it for but I have been using Aerquip hose with XRP fittings in different applications for about 10 years at a guess with no issues what so ever.
I have used it for water supply & return on circle track cars where it sees some pretty big heat swings, use it with both alcohol & gas with no problems I know of,,,,

I also have it for fuel in my dyno room & these hoses are probably 8+ years old & as good as the day I put them in.

Hi Rick,
I don't think there is much if any difference in flow between the two but I like the XRP stuff a little better & they do have a lot of different fittings that Aeroquip doesn't or at least didn't last I checked.
I use both
