I am concidering running one of these since I can get one fairly cheap from a local race shop and wondered if anyone every heard of running one on a street car? This would be going on a 383 w/574hp. I realize I have to run the hvc coil with it which is no problem so. What do you guys think---run with it or run from it.

I guess that you're asking if it's OK to run an MSD 6 box on the street, correct?

If so, yes. I have several street cars and use the MSD 6 box in all of them. I've been using them for 20+ years.

I have a modded 7 box in my racecar that is over 25 years old. It works great, also. It's been updated several times.

BTW, the 6 will work with nearly ANY coil that doesn't have a Ford-style internal resistor. Even a stock GM can-style coil will work in a pinch. My '70 442 has the MSD 6 hooked to a stock black GM coil right now and it's triggered with a stock distributor with a Pertronix kit in it. It's worked fine for years.
