Several years back some guy in Texas advertised a black LS6/turbo 400 El Camino as 1 of 16. I never knew if he meant black ones, black ones with 400's, or just LS6's in general. I've always wondered if there are any accurate numbers.

Know exact number from Chevrolet.
Guesstimates say 1-300 made possibly.I know of four right now, with documentation. There is a Forest Green up in Canada that is incredible.
Even more rare is the L-78 1970 Elcamino.I know of two owners right here on this board that have them, they are all I have ever heard of.

Thanks for the reply Rick. There was a forest green one here that was sent to Barret Jackson and sold year before last. I always heard negative rumors about the authenticity of the car so don't know for sure. He had a build sheet, but I also know there were some whores around making them a few years back. Mine has 2 build sheets and a protecto plate, complete title history and was a local car. It was all there except for ex manifolds (replaced with headers), smog, carb, distributor and shifter. I don't know what it is with changing out the distributor in these cars either, but every one I see's got the wrong distributor and with em bringing $1000+ on e bay, mine are both stayin' wrong. I've never seen an L78 70 El Camino.
