Wife had one Sunday, started out she said she was dizzy, then happened again & went to a full seizure. I grabbed her & laid her on the floor, she seemed to be choking so I opened her mouth to push her tongue out of the way (don't ever do that it's painful/ doc said I'm lucky to have a finger left) called 911 & got her to the ER.

At the ER they did the blood work & CT scan & all was good or so they say doc said probably won't ever happen again, & I hope not because it was one of the scariest moments of my life.

I have, due to injury / blunt force trauma to my head (bet nobody here ever figured me for having a head injury, eh?)

I've also passed out once after getting really jittery feeling, like a caffeine overload, then got hot and weak and went into seizure. Odd thing being on the floor, feeling every muscle controrting and contracting and then going relaxed only to find that you are in somewhat of a pretzle position. The second one I was home alone, nobody around. Got up, dusted myself off, got a drink and went back to what I was doing. Probably lucky I have a short tongue... my wife doesnt agree with that but maybe thats why no choking. :D

My brother-in-law has had several, maybe a dozen, and they sound just like your wife's. When they are over, he has no recollection of it. Doctors never did figure it out. He is on medication that seems to be preventing them, but I don't think they ever confirmed the cause. He hasn't had one in over a year. I hope your wife gets better quickly. Tell her we're pulling for her.

I had three back years ago after a severe closed head injury.
That bit of medical history almost prevented me form getting my commercial license back then. Also was part of the battle I had to fight in order to get back into the Military.
Never knew I had them just woke up wondering what happened and why my pants were wet!
We were taught NOT to try and put things in their mouth. Just move everything back so they can't hurt themselves and let it take it's course while you wait for EMS which there was nothing more we could really do either!

Sometimes they never ever figure out the cause and they never have another. Others may have a repeat and still not get an answer as to why.

Know all about them! Kid started having them at 5 years old. He's now 17. No drivers permit or license. He has epilepsy. Brain did not develop correctly. :(:( Its a pain in the @$$! People have no clue what your going through or how lucky they are. The kid said the other night, why can't some kid that smokes pot or does drugs have this ****. What was I suppose to say? The counter top in the kitchen looks like the local Wallgreens pharmacy. Been on drugs for about 12 years, Started with the hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, then to the University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, then to the Children Hospital in Millwauke, Wisconsin, then to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and now back to Iowa City, Iowa. Good Luck!!!!!!!

I do more reading here than posting or answering, but I guess this one I couldn't sit back and not say anything. I guess when you see about a 7 year old girl come down the hall with a scare across her forehead (you just know she had brain surgery at some point. and her DAD is pushing the wheelchair) it kind of has a humbling affect on ya. I see DAD or MOM mad as hell at their kid for (being kids) at the store, I just think to myself (boy! I'd swap ya!) I seen a kid with Down syndrome at Culvers (fast food) everybody just stared at him. I just leaned against the wall and figured you people don't have a clue! Like I said before! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

My wife had the same seizure, 25 yrs ago. We were standing in the kitchen talking after a normal day, and she said she felt weird. Next thing I know, her legs are buckling under, and I lowered her to the floor. I freaked out. It was out of nowhere. She was having a seizure about 30 seconds, while I called 911.

She awoke while I was still on the phone, and the first aid squad was already on the way. They did a bunch of tests like ct scan, blood work, etc, and sent us home.

She went to her doc the next day, and they did an MRI and found nothing wrong. That was 25 yrs ago, and it's never happened again. The doc thought her blood pressure probably got too low, which is normal for her.

It's a strange thing to happen, but in my wife's case, it was really nothing in the end.

The thing we found out early in the learning process, (wife and I) was it doesn't matter how old a person is or what their past history is they can have seizures at any time. The neurologist at Milwaukee told us about a woman who had a seizure right in front of her at a marathon race! (she never had one before then) The woman turned out to be fine. (didn't hurt to have a neurologist right behind you) I've said enough, well good night guys and good luck with life and never forget one thing! YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH HORSEPOWER!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D (even if it's got leaf springs) It's a avon, wait a minute, I think it's a NOVA!

There are many causes of seizures, just as there are a distinct variety of types of seizures.

Consider what could have happened if...it had occurred behind the wheel of a car...on a ladder...scuba-diving...or hundreds of various settings.

Any second seizure changes all the diagnostic dynamics onto a whole new level.

Let's hope that never happens. :)
