I am curious about antena location on a 64 SS Convertible. I thought all SS had them on the right rear qtr, however mine is up front. Is this correct or has something been modified?

Thanks

In ads and articles from back in the 60's I remember seeing antennas(antennae) mounted on the pass. fender, pass. top-of-quarterpanel, and also driver and pass. top-of-quarterpanel (driver's side being a dummy). 64elkynss

My understanding is the rear antenna or front antenna had nothing to do with SS or non SS. If you had an original factory AM radio you had the adjustable mast and was in the rear or the front. If you had an AM/FM you only had the front and it was a fixed mast not adjustable.

I also thought that all am/fm radio cars had the antenna on the front fender only.

You are correct. The AM/FM option was with a front antenna fixed mast. The rear antenna was an option for AM radios from what I understand.

I think that am/fm radios did not become available 'till 65. Saw a couple go for lot's of money on ebay a while back. Over $1,000. Here's one.

Radio Tech here shows no model number for a 64 am/fm.

That is correct. The am/fm radio wasn't avalible 'till 65, but I was refering to the antenna options discussed already. Since the am/fm antennas were mentioned, and the '64 model year didn't have one, I figured we were talking about other years as well. The power antenna option was avalible with either am or am/fm and it was only on the right rear quarter panel.
