I have a 454 that I am in the process of freshening, upgrading and would like some recommendations on a cam.
454 + .030
Speed Pro pistons with a.221 dome
781 casting # heads with 2.19/1.88 valves. Bowl ported.
Edelbrock tarantula intake.
850 Holley
Compression ratio about 10-1.
Headers
Cam I am now running is a Crane 272, with 272 degrees of advertised duration and .515 lift
Duration @.050 is 216
I took the motor apart to install ARP rod bolts and freshened up with new bearings and rings. The heads are at a shop having the larger valves and port work done. The car is mostly street driven with some street legal drag racing at the local strip. Thanks, Jerry

I have basically the same engine as you do. I left it up to the professional engine builder to pick the cam for me. He chose the CC XE284. 240/246 at 50, 284/296 adv, 574/578 lift.
I told him I wanted it streetable and be able to run the power disk brakes.
Haven't got to run it yet. Soon, maybe. Interior and trim are being installed now. Then......
You will get a lot of great advice on here, I am sure.

or 402A5Lun for a solid:
Solid; Rough idle. Excellent street/bracket racing cam with very strong mid range and top end torque and horsepower. Needs 3000–3500 RPM stall converter, headers, 10:1 compression ratio or better and 4.10 gearing.
Advertised Duration IN/EX: 285/295

Lobe Sep Angle / Intake Ctr Line: 110/104

Either way you should be safe with your heads and the lift either of these two have.

Cant remember the cam # but Ive got a Lunati cam 237/247 dur @50, 540/558 lift, 112 lobe separation, with similar combo as you, and I have loads of vacuum for the brakes and 547 hp at 5900, and 580 ftbls at 3000, threw a 3" exhaust. On the dyno using a 3.5" exhaust we got 555hp @ 5800, but the torque move to 577 @ 4300.

I also left it up to the engine builder. see signature. How much money you got thats where it lies, hyd roller pricey but worth it. I was told I should be around 550hp with the same combo as you but with the hyd roller cam.

My vote is for the 402A3LUN soild(Lunati). I have been running the Ultrdyne version of this cam for awhile with a combo like yours and love it.
