[RC 70]

My painter is supposed to put the stripes on my 70 SS today and I'm still not sure about something. Do the hood stripes maintain a constant width all the way to the back of the hood? Or do they follow the hood contour and get wider as they go back?

Also on a cowl induction hood, are you supposed to paint the stripes inside the flapper door? Thanks for your help.

The stripes have a slight delta, the assambly manual shows the references.

From what I have here it says that the stripe has a .95" constant from the leading edge of the hood and runs right up to the trailing edge of the hood and has a constant 1.77" offset from the center crease and a 2.28" constant from the outside edge of the of the ourbaord hood creaser -that neat plateau shaped one on all the hoods. The trim stripe has a .28" constant from the main stripe.

Thanks Quad, that makes sense. What it also means is the stripes are wider at the rear of the hood. Which I believe looks better anyway.
There is a 70 SS in the YO catalog on page 565 that has the stripes the same width all the way back and it just doesn't look right. Makes the cowl induction emblems look outa wack too.

This may be wrong, but wasn't there 2 styles of 70 SS stripes? So that might change your measurements depending on which style you have.

That's a good question regarding the flapper door. I don't think I've ever seen one with the stripes painted on the slats of the flapper (except of course when I'm behind the wheel). I don't think they were painted that way from the factory but I think it's a nice touch anyway.
