Just wondering if anyone else is watching the live broad cast of KROQ's "Almost Acoustic Christmas." I've got cheap a$$ 56K dial up, so yeah, as you can imagine, I can't really see much of anything, but at least I can hear the bands play :D I don't remember all the bands that are playing right now, but from what I do remember, Rise Against, Fall out boy, Avenged Sevenfold, Thrice, NIN, Korn, System of a Down, and I believe a few more a playing. I believe it started at 4pm, but I didn't "log in" until about 5pm. I got to see Rise Against, Avenged Sevenfold, and Thrice is playing right now

The definition of SoCal "Alternative" music in the 70's was KNAC in Long Beach.....Overseas "LIVE" concerts, BBC sessions, talented underground bands...just the best non-mainstream music available...period.

Usually hang with Jack since they took over Arrow.
I dont' really care for Jack. Their music genre is too wide for me. It's kinda weird, to me, to be listening to AC/DC, then all of a sudden the next song is Mariah Carey (sp?). I like the fact that they play a wider selection of "rock", but some of the "other" stuff they play is questionable to me. I really wish KNAC was still on the air. I know they're online, but it's not like I can listen to them while I'm at work :(

And KROQ has Kevin and Bean...ya either love em or hate em...I love em, think they are pretty funny to listen to. Especially at 6am when the mornings suck. I'm in the same boat about Jack, some of the stuff they play is fine and a wide selection, but I get tired of hearing the wierd stuff most often. Wish Arrow was back, although KLOS has grabbed my attention for classic rock. Especially Joe Benson and his "Whole lotta Led" and the amount of Rock knowledge that guy has impresses me. Dont know of any other DJs that have the same music and song stories he has.

KNAC was a good station back in the 70's. My favorite was KMET 94.7 the Mighty Met with Jim Ladd. For a short while in the early 80's, the Pirate was the best alternative rock station. They were staffed with a bunch of guys out of KMET and KLOS but ran out of funds. Played a ton of alternative stuff, newer rock and album rock. Those were the days.

Yeah, I remember Pirate radio, well, I remember the commercials on tv, that's for sure! I was just a kid when Pirate was on :p :D Sorry, not trying to make any of you guys feel old, but yeah, I was just a kid :D

I had no idea KNAC was around in the 70's, I just remember them in the early 90s when they played nothing but metal...when I hit the teen years and realized rap was lame and that there was better and more interesting music out there

isn't Avenged Sevenfold that band that stole the Overkill mascot, Chaly?
you know, the skull with fangs and bat wings...
if i was Bobby Blitz, i would be suing them for copyright infringement. the worst thing that could happen would be Overkill getting some mainstream media coverage..

I still see some KNAC bumper stickers on cars.
I still wear a KNAC T-shirt :D They were great. Not so good now that you have to pay to get the high bitrate streams on their webcasts, but some of the music is still good when I can get a chance to listen.

Kevin and Bean were great. They were about the only morning show I could stand a few years ago. Less of the shock stuff and more just plain funny stuff.

Now I listen to talkradio (Phil Hendrie and Coast to Coast) or NPR.

Mon-Wed, all I listen to is Kevin and Bean in the mornings (I've got Thurs and Fri off ;) :D ) A lot of other guys at work listen to Howard Stern, but he's just plain annoying to me. Seems like the only way he can get ratings by talking about sex, doing sexual things at work, degrating people, and basically trying to be the one who makes the most "noise" so that he can get the most attention, which of course equals ratings. I can go on and complain about him some more, but that will be useless(sp?), so I'll just stop right here.

I use to listen to KROQ....And all those, but I got so sick and tired of commercials, Im on Sirius radio now.
Isn't Jed the fish and Richard Blade on the alternative station? I grew up in the early 80's, remember KROQ very vividly and loved the music. In fact I am listening to XM radio on my Direct TV right now, Fred they call it.
