Well after spending all F%$%$#%$#%$ing day plumbing my fuel line with 8 AN braided hose, my question is do you guys use a sealer on the AN and NPT fittings? I think I didn't on my last set-up and had no leaks but wanted everyone's opinion. There is nothing worse than trying to cut that damn hose without it fraying, and then putting the nipple on without pushing the hose out. I taped the hose, tried hack-saw, Dremmel, and finally hose cutters which worked the best, but still had some fraying. I'm not so sure how well the fittings are on, but I guess I'll find out when I fire the motor up. I hate braided hose an AN fitings. I'm ready to go back to rubber hose and clamps!!

theres a tool ive seen advertised in national dragster thats made to help slip the braided line inside the sleeve.the secret is to get a clean cut like you allready know. i use a thin cut off wheel but the shears work ok too. i also use a lubricant for o rings called parker o ring lube that works better than anything else on the hose and barb betore tightening the fitting. only use sealer on pipe threads not on a 37 degree or 45 fitting . use oil on the threads and ferrel

I debated using that, but being the stoop that I am, I didn't. I like the looks of braided line and nice fittings. If this all leaks a lot when started, I think I am going to try the push lock.

I wrap the hose really tight with masking tape where I'm going to cut it. Then I put it in a vice with the cut line just next to the jaws of the vice and cut it with a sharp hacksaw. After I take off the tape there is virtually no fraying of the steel. But, just to make sure it is all good, I take a pair of metal snips and trim the very edge of the cut, sort of like a beveled edge. On the fitting, I just use a few drops of oil to help it all go together.

I use an air powered cutoff wheel after wrapping with masking tape, then I use a sharp chisel to strike off any remnants. works great every time

No thread sealer on AN Fittings, thread sealer on pipe trheads
