This is my Chevelle that I have listed on ebay twice. I am getting very fustrated I need some money in a bad way but I refuse to give this car away. I am planning on taking it to a Super Chevy show in the next few weeks. I was told that I would have better luck there. I feel this car is easily worth somewhere in the low 20's. Am I expecting to much?

No, but you will probably get better response selling in person vs. this ad.

Let's address a few issues to help you out:

You need better pictures and lots more of them including the interior, dash, down the sides, entire underneath, the trunk floor, console, suspension, under carpets, close ups of any imperfections, because we all know there are some somewhere.

Then you need to give a complete description of everything. If you don't know, contact the seller and get the information of what's in the motor, camshaft? valve train? what works what doesn't.

The car is painted in a 'Love it or hate it color'. original factory colors are more popular and if it were red......... You know ;) Not something you can do anything about now, but keep in mind you have a limited market with screaming bright yellow paint that wasn't an option that year.

I don't think you want too much, if it's in really good condition al the way around, but that's in question with the ad missing out on so much important information.

It's really the spring of the season, so get better prepared and try again.

i agree, i don't think your too off price. i agree with adding pics, and more info on the car, also take out the hurting for $ stuff. what you've done is get people to wait for your next add with a lower price. think about it, when you hear of a deal from somebody that's hurting, the killer instinct comes in and you offer even less....

edit your ad to be more positive and have more info. on the other hand, e-bay may not be the place right now. there is fewer and fewer $ floating right now...if you pull up collector cars, and pull up ending soonest, you'll see many of these auctions aren't meeting reserve, and a surprising amount aren't even getting bids.

as the economy fleshes out, your going to see more and more deals, i've seen a couple decent malibus go for 8,500 in the last few days, and a b.b. car is going to be a little harder to sell right now. when i hit the pump this a.m. regular was 4.00 and deisel was 4.60, so some of this is finally setting in. guys who were just marginally hanging on to thier hot rods, are going to have them up for sale, and the guys who panic and sell under market will effect those who have a legit price on thier rides. no different than homes. homes in my neighborhood, go for well above 500k, but some ass who could barely get one on a funky loan, just bailed, short selling it for about 400k, this is going to happen with cars also, heck some thread on here has a nice ride with only like 6k miles on it, and it isn't priced in the hemisphere, and he's going to have trouble selling it. it's going to be a patience thing. so either hang on for your price, or dump the price for a quick sale.

do you have a desirable car? yes, is the price right? probably. how many people you know right now that have 20k cash? not many....hang in there, and good luck...

you should expect it to sell around $17 grand but i think getting up in the 20s is high for the market the way it is its really soft right now cause of gas prices i saw the biggest car corall at the last swap meet i went to which was a couple of weeks ago and the cars were almost half as much as they used to be 3 or 4 years ago

I agree with Jimmy and most of what Bill has said. I strongly disagree that people are steering away because of the BB. It has been the most dominant feature selling these cars. I feel it is more of a situation that people cannot afford the car not the cost to drive it. The difference in driving 2000 miles at 10 mpg as opposed to 20 mpg is only about $400. In this economy you either can or cannot afford these cars. The people that will buy a $20K car are the ones that have had so much disposable income stripped from them.

With patience you should do OK. You and the rest of us are finding out it is tough out there.

I agree with most of what has already been said. Definately drop the part about being a hardly working contractor. This only attracts the sharks, and the dealers who are looking for a lowball deal. More defined higher resolution pics would also help, especially of the underside, interior, etc.I have seen some prices down by as much as 20% in some cases from 2 years ago. Cars are not moving as fast as they were some time back. It will take some time, best of luck to you on your sale.

It would depend I guess on how firm you are to that price. I have seen at least 5 68 converts, all quite nice cars, in the past couple months advertised for under $20K. I would have bought one of them if the wife had warmed up to a convertible, which she hasn't lol. Black interior with no a/c is not helping, the yellow color will take the right buyer, not everyones cup of tea. Also is it me or does the center console look like its not straight?

Hello Brian. Along with what has been said, I will add; having the SS emblems will not increase the value of a 68. The VIN will show that it started life as a malibu convertible.

Therefore, you are in competition with other people selling their malibu convertibles. If you check the different websites, this one included, you will see the price range.

As stated before, the bright yellow may be attractive to some people but it is not the type of color that main-stream buyers look for.

Fact: I used to read articles about which colors sold the most and least. Bright yellow was usually near or at the bottom. I personally like the color but that is a personal preference. It is not a popular choice.

I agree with 99% of what everyone has said. 20K would be good for a 68 SS Clone w/a 454. I would also add that you'll probably sell this thing in person vs. the internet. You could always try a local Muscle Car dealer and consign it. There are some good ones here in the SF Bay Area. Another option is the car coral you're already doing. Good luck man.

And thank you George W.!!!!!!!!! For nothing that is.
