I am in the process of upgrading my 65 Chevelle's alternator. I currently have a 55 amp 10SI and I want to install a 94 amp 12SI. Does anyone know if these alternators are completely interchangable? The car originally had an externally regulated alternator, but I did the conversion as outlined in Wes Vann's September 2001 article that is posted in the archives. Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

The swap shouldn't be a problem. You might want to upgrade the wire that runs from the alternator to the horn relay to a thicker one to help carry all that new found amperage to the main power connection.
