Is there a special technique to insure that the Chevelle body is sitting correctly aligned on the frame when you set the body of the car back on the frame? This is regarding a 67 Chevelle. any help is greatly appreciated.

Once the body is already on and bolted is there a way to check for alignment. I suspect my car may be misaligned by the shop that set it back on the frame.
Any techniques for loosening up the body bolts and adjusting?

thanks

I center it by measuring the distance between the inner rocker, and the frame. After the fenders and bumpers are on, it may have to be tweaked again.

It's hard to tell where it wants to be, before the bumpers are on. The bumpers bolt to the frame, and the fenders bolt to the body, so if the bumpers are off center when it's all back together, the body may have to be moved to one side a bit, to get it centered.

I went thru this process with my El Camino, and my 71 Chevelle. With my 68, I was lucky. It dropped down in the correct location from the start. I didn't have to readjust anything.

my 66 had them on the passenger side
will be a 1/2" hole next to the mount at the cowl and just in front of the rear wheels.

I used a 1/2" diameter rod to go thru both holes in the frame (elcamino) and the hole in the body.

The hole actually may be closer to 5/8" as a 1/2", long socket extension that is not a reduced size in the shank fits perfectly.

I have the same problem with my 67 Chevelle. Do i only need to remove only the 2 Screws left and right the radiator where frame and body is together to pull the Body round a 1/4 inch to the driver side?

The 67 has the two alignment holes on the passenger side as mentioned.

I have been dealing with this as far as putting a cage in the car.

It can be major pain...stay patient.

You may get it square and then put the front clip back on and the bumpers and have to move it some "to get it where it wants to be" so that the bumpers are correct.

Just be trial and error and check everything twice......
