On my 70 I replaced my steel GM cowl hood. Picked up a VNF bolt on 4" cowl hood with the brass light springs. New hood Fit is good. I need to get a little more over to drivers side to meet fender and even out lines. That is the only issue. Any tips to aline hood. Thanks Dave.

Re: Aline new hood

Open the hood to full open. Put the heel of your hands against the edge of the hood by the fender where the gap is tight and just gave a couple of quick shoves toward the side with the wider gap. Space your hands about 12 inches apart on each side of the hinges putting the force close to the hinge. Just kinda "springing" the hinges right or left. This will work on fiberglass hoods, just don't use killer force and take it easy until you see how it is gonna react. All this assuming your gap is consistent from front to back. Hope this helps.

You can also slide the hinges on the hood side to side, a little. The bolts are not as wide as the slot in the hinge so there is some room for adjustment. Pusing the hood works as described works, jus be carefull or the hood will hit the fender on the other side.
