After years of looking for rust free 1969 Post Sedan, I am happy to say I finally found Albert a very nice clean 35K mile Chevelle. This Frost Green "300 Deluxe" comes with factory radio delete, all original glass, very hard to find original door panels, plus 2 build sheets.

Special thanks also goes out to Helmut (L78M22Rag) for his quick fingers on the key board.

Albert we will all be waiting patiently to see what you build out of this very nice 1969 300 Deluxe Post Sedan.

More better pics to follow when it arrives to Chicago.

Ok, boys, a little help here. By the way killer project, congrats and I dig the color.

Now, here is my quandry. Why are these called post cars? When I was a kid, a post car was a car that literally had a post. I'm talking 57 Chevy's, Ford's etc. Cars that actually had a post integrated into the body. Several years go by, and some cars sart coming out with trim around the window, and I start hearing people calling them "post cars".

Soooo... how is it some trim, make it a post car??? Sorry for my ingnorance, even after 40 some years in the hobby, this has always alluded me.....

I am puzzled by the term "post sedan". In the old days there were sedans and hardtops. At first when I heard the term "post" I thought it was a car from the Post Office. Are they calling the B-Pillar a post? Is there such a thing as a "non-post sedan"?

Bill, it does have the post at the B pillar..also window frames around the glass, vent windows( no astro ventilation ) different trim and stuff..and finally designated by VIn too..

Where is the B pillar, I see window frames, but they aren't integrated into the body. I mean if it's just what it's called, that's fine, but to me a post car actually has a post integrated into the body. To me, this is a B (post) car. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...iAKSjbmdCQ&page=1&ndsp=35&ved=1t:429,r:21,s:0

Bill, the window frames do not roll down with the windows. The B-pillar is a structural member of the body, which allows them to be lighter weight and less flex than the "hardtop" Chevelles. They were popular with drag-racers for that reason.

Guys, I get what the frame is called, and I understand hardtop etc. But aren't those frames just fairly thin metal, bolted into place. That's all I'm saying, you look at a 55-57 Chevy, Ford, e.t.c. and the B pillar is actually forged in the body and a heck of a lot more substancial than those little window frames. Maybe I'll just never get it. My 210 was a post car. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...1&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=1441&bih=879

Nice find. FWIW per specs the '69 300 Deluxe 2 dr Coupe (post sedan) is exactly 40 lb lighter than the 300 Deluxe 2 dr Sport Coupe (hardtop).

Bill,
Those posts are integrated into the body---not bolted on, but a part of the car.

The 4dr sedan cars actually have the post you are thinking of between the doors from the sill to the roof------same thing on the 2dr cars, just not as obvious.

What I don't get is---- why is the 4-dr Hardtop called a sedan:confused:
Not a sedan---a hardtop-----no post. GM did this in 59/60 with the
Sport Sedan-----Impala low roof (Impala only) 4 dr HT

Does the Chevelle version of the "Sport Sedan" have a lower roof than the rest of the sedan cars?????

Still should have been a Hardtop.

'nother thing that has bothered me for years.
Never could figure out why Chrysler called the 4-dr version of Plymouth's
"flagship" car the "Gran Coupe" 70-73.
And these things came in sedan (post) AND hardtop (no post) trim.
I never did see a 74+ 4dr Gran Coupe, so maybe they got that ironed out.

Been bugging me for years---probably because I had a 73 Gran Coupe (2-dr).
(one of my son's teachers drives a gorgeous 71 Gran Coupe---but it is a 4-dr)
I am thankful that I never saw a 70 Sport Fury GT in a 4-dr tho.
(my first car)
