Does anyone know of a decent alarm for our older vehicles? I don't need one that unlocks the doors or whatever. Just one that will go off if someone breaks in. Any suggestions?

GO down to Walmart. they will have what you need. Yes it will have a provision for power locks, but can still be used for an older car like ours. Run you about $80 and you can have the running lights blink when you turn it on/off/

Just don't get one with a valey mode. Mine drives me nuts. have to reprogram it any time I take power away from it.

And don't put the blinking LED in the dash. It's crack like the grand canyon.

I have the best snti theft device on my car. It originally came with column shift but I have a B&M now, so when i park it i switch the position of the shifter (shifter arm is removed so its not too obvious) to drive, and it wont start. However this did not stop some A$$ hole from stealing my car cover off of my car from in my [email protected][email protected][email protected]@!! what is this world coming to????? it was brand new!!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!

You might want to do a search on E-Bay as well. I found one there for my car that had everything that I needed and the price could not be beat. I think I paid $37 + shipping for a brand new, warrantied name brand piece. Can't be beat! Good luck!

Also look for the name BullDog. The make proximity alarms that are a "add on" to most current alarms. Ment for those with convertables or the need to leave your windows down.

Yea, I'd like to know about the pager type alarm too, that sounds like just what I'd need. I mean if your alarm goes off, not many people if any come to help, but if you have a pager, the most important person (you the owner)gets contacted and then you can go out their and whoop them.

Friend had one a while back. not worth the cash. It'll work maybe 100' away from the car. It didn't work at the Mall, and the mall here isn't all that big.

This was about 3 years ago, things may have changed for the commercial RF standards since then.

Look into it and let me know. I'd love to catch someone tampering with my car. "Hold my beer and WATCH THIS".
