Why can't I find a stock style air cleaner for a 72 4brl that is not cowl induction? All of the snorkles I have seen are cowl/i type.

Anybody have any pics of a stock 72 setup?

I'm not sure what you are after. I own a 1972 Chevelle with 4bbl, and the snorkle on my 454 air cleaner is no different than one on a 350.

The air cleaners that I have seen in the catalogs are specifically for super sports with cowl induction. They have a rubber ring which seals against the hood and they don't have the hot air flap. I don't want this because I don't have cowl induction. I can't find anything else that is new.

If you are going for correctness, the air cleaners in all the catalogs are not correct for cowel induction or other 1972 Chevelles!!
They do not have the correct thermac valve built into the snorkle part of the air cleaner. If you are trying for correctness purchase yourself a Chevelle restoration guide like Motorbooks International "Chevelle SS Restoration Guide by Paul Herd, or some other noted restoration guru.
