Before I remove the exhaust header on the passenger side to get at and check the starter and its wiring out, I thought I would see if you folks could spot something obvious that I may have missed. Here is the story: 1970 El Camino, factory air, 350/350 with floor shift, tilt wheel. I just gutted the interior and replaced the fan motor, heater core and all related switches and relays. I also bought an entire new dash kit, switching to the LS6 gauge pack with tach, put in a new radio and a few other odds and ends. The dash kit included the dash wiring harness and fuse block. I installed all this stuff and everything seemed to hook up fine. While I had the passenger side fender well out to work on the AC system, I replaced the power wire to the starter from the battery with a new one. Now everything works- with one exception- when I turn the key to start it nothing happens. I checked the cut-out switch on the floor shifter, everything seems fine there. Since a new Delco ignition switch was only $20, I bought one and installed it- no difference.
The only thing left, as far as I can tell, is the starter itself and the wiring to it/on it. The starter cranked fine before. Now there is no clicking, no nothing from the starter when I try to engage it.
Anything here that I may be missing?
Thanks for any insights you can share.
