Love the hood. Any shots from below? Would like to see where these line up with the radiator. And ducting below?
Front of the vent is about 2" behind the radiator. I don't have any ducting to it, but might add some when I get the oil cooler installed.
It's in a low-pressure area, so it should draw high-pressure air out from under the hood pretty effectively without any ducting.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures of the bottom side tonight.

I was at the track on Monday, and a lot of guys were talking how their aero mods on their S2000s and other imports made such a huge difference when the corner speeds are typically well under 60 mph for even the fast cars. I am sure they didn't hurt, but I don't think aero on most cars will be noticeably effective below 50 mph. I dont think you will get aero understeer on an auto cross, so I'm sure you could run max angle of attack and still have good balance. Like you said, setup mechanically to have a good front end, and then the spoiler to keep the ass planted at high speed. Road America I am very curious how it will perform. I hope you try different angles to see how it affects your laptimes.
I do plan to try different angles, and maybe different sizes. That event has an 8" max, but I might try a 6" version also.
I imagine there will be some trade off between grip and drag... I need to get a GPS receiver and download Track Addict to do some data-logging.
I should see top speeds in the 140-145mph range at RA on the straights, so drag will be pretty significant if too big and steep.

Derek, I saw you making a run at Good Guys DM. Looked fast to me!

I was going to get back over there and say hi but got sidetracked many times....

Mirrors are from mid-90s Buick LeSabre/Park Avenue and Oldsmobile 88/98

Here's the bottom side, I cut all the center bracing out, but the shape of the extractors added a lot of stiffness back into it.

Yes, probably this winter unless I can get it done any sooner. Getting rid of the stripes too.

It's just epoxy-primed right now and needs more fill primer and block sanding before it's ready for paint. I'm going to the UMI Autocross Challenge next week, and decided to get my lightweight stuff on now rather than waiting until it's ready for paint... Hood is 42 lbs lighter than stock, and trunk lid is 16 lbs lighter.
Wow, that's like not having1/3 of a wife in the car! 😄 That machine looks beastly, ready for Talladega! Nice work.

I'm glad I put the effort into this. I went this past weekend to UMI's Autocross Challenge, and with both the weight reduction and the spoiler, I narrowly managed to pull off winning an invite to UMI King of the Mountain! (y)

Thanks Mike, I've seen a few pictures from Goodguys, but not as many as previous years. After getting used to the bigger tires and aero, the car looks so "wimpy" to me seeing it like it was a month ago. :D

A week from today I'll be running the full course (+ motorcycle chicane at the Kink) at Road America with the Ultimate Street Car Association.
A week after that, I'll be at UMI Motorsports Park for the King of the Mountain $25,001 Shootout.

Then I'll be out of both vacation days and travel budget for quite a while... I'll hit a few more local autocrosses, but no other big events for the year.

She ran it last weekend for her first time at a local autocross. She did pretty well for her first time, finishing mid-pack at 38th of 64.

I finished 4th.
