I have a 540 bbc. Since dyno time, I have about 200 miles on motor. It
is a str driven car (weekends) with a roller and solid lifters. How often
(miles) do i need to adjust lifters. If it means anything also, the motor
also has a stud girdle. Starting to learn engine stuff so info will be much
appreciated. Thanks!

check them after 1,000 miles.

There are too many variables for a specific number, cam size, engine rpm, spring pressure, stud girdle or not. But basically like Tom said, go over them at 1000 miles, and then you can space the time out depending on if you find any loose ones.

Having a stud girdle means a lot. A lot less needing to adjust your valves!

Yes. Also you might considering tightening the lash a little. Mine called for .020 for both. However, when it is nice and hot the valve train is very noise. It is just enough to bother me. So I re-did them at .011 cold which puts them about .018 hot, sounds better, and the car picked up a little. May have nothing to do with it but sure sounds better and running well.

I never removed the stud girdles on mine. Just loosened up the girdle to adjust the rocker. What is important is to recheck the lash after tightening the girdle. Sometimes they pull the studs all out of whack and the lash changes.

Yea I never remove my girdle when adjusting valves, like said above just loosen the girdle bolts near the valve you are adjusting and adjust the valve, if useing poly locks I like to go just a skosh tight on the feeler gauge when turning the poly lock, this way when you tighten the set screw in the poly lock the slop in the threads (there shouldn't be much) will put your lash adjustment just right. Retighten the stud girdle and RECHECK the lash. Stud girdle does help keep the lash in check. Take your time use EOIC (ehxaust open/intake close) method to adjust and over time you will get a "feel" for adjusting the lash. With a solid roller you will have to keep an eye on your valvetrain, especially if your cam is aggressive and the springs are stout. Keep clean freash oil in that engine , that is cheep insurance in my opinion.
