I have a 1971 Chevelle 350.
I am looking for a accelator cable. Does the clip which attaches the cable to the pedal come with the cable or is this a separate piece. I have lost my cable. I ordered a cable but it is too long. I think it maybe for a floor shift. Have I lost the clip too or does the clip come with a new cable. If the clip comes with the cable, who sell it??

Keith, The throttle cable comes with a small hex head cap with a shoulder attached to the end of the cable. It is held on to the pedal with with a c-clip.
The carb end has a metal sleeve at the end that snaps onto a ball fitting on your carb.
Floor shift??? Does not compute

Do you have the metal bracket that bolts onto the rear stud of the carb base? The throttle cable has a rubber slotted grommet that slides into this bracket. If I remember right, the position of that bracket can affect the length of the cable at the pedal?

Push comes to shove you can crimp lead weights on the cable at the pedal

That's the way my car was setup when I took it apart

Gotta love it

A C-clip?? What does the c-clip clip around. I do not understand. The cable has to pass thru the hole on the acceleration rod, so the clip should hold it how?? Does the clip clip on the hex head??

OK, I looked a little closer this time

It is actually a plastic grommet that presses into the hole in the metal arm that is attached to the pedal.
Mine is notched, so I must of removed it, slid the cable with stop thru the hole in the metal arm and notched the plastic grommet in order to slip it around the cable and then pressed it into the hole of the metal arm.
It has been a few years.

The backside of the hex head is dished and the plastic grommet is dished to accept it.
Hope this helps.

I bought a throttle cable for a 71 small block Chevelle at my local GM dealer about a year ago. It took 2 days to get but they still have them around. Check it out.
