I think that's pretty unlikely here on TC. There have been a number of discussions about the club, and I've never read any comments from a judge. There are TC'ers, who know what they're looking for. I've been an AACA member for a while, and other TC'ers are members too. One of us could probably answer AACA questions.

There also is an AACA forum,(http://www.aaca.org/) that I've been on for a few years, and there are judges there. You can also look of the site for rules, classes, judging guidelines, etc.

I'd say the original poster probably has a legitimate question regarding judging criteria and thought he might get some help here at Team Chevelle.

Quality, workmanship, cleanliness & authenticity are the items judged by the AACA.

Like Bill noted it would be best to check out thier website. Most questions can be answered there. They also offer a judging class at most of thier events & I have found that helpful as well. By attending these classes you get credit toward becoming a AACA judge if you choose to do so.

I don't know how much it's changed but I received this email from the (then I susppose) VP of class judging.

AACA's judging system is based on authenticity as the way the dealer received the vehicle from the factory. Any feature, option, or accessory shown in the original factory catalog, sales literature or company directives for the model year of the vehicle, will be accepted for judging. However, our system dose not judge by Serial Numbers, Casting Numbers or Cal Tag (my emphasis) information. Since we are dealing with every possible manufactured vehicle it is impossible to expect our judges to know and interpret all these nomenclatures. Therefore it is possible in our system for the opposite situation as you have described to occur

From what I read, they don't consider the original equipment, color, interior and such as long as it could have been available in that year. So if your car's trim tag shows Marina Blue, black vinyl top, blue bench seat, and automatic transmission, a Bolero Red, no vinyl top, black buckets, and a 4-speed it's acceptable. Correct engine casting numbers, correct engine date and suffix codes, etc. don't matter as long as the engine looks correct externally.
