I went to the Fast Friday Street event several times in the last couple of months. Next thing I know my car showed up on their Instagram page. It's kind of a nod to all Chevelle owners so thought I would share. Too bad they're closing down after Spring Nationals. 35 years in operation and now they're turning it into an industrial park or some kind of nonsense. The next closest 1/4 mile track to Houston is 250 miles away in Dallas. Support your local track if your lucky enough to have one!

I travelled from London UK to Houston Raceway Park in 1993 to attend a ''Super Chevy Show'' Wow what a great experience that was also my first visit to the States. What a shame its closing .... sign of the times unfortunately.

Nice car. I had no idea they were closing the track. What a shame. It seems like it’s getting more and more rare to have access to a drag strip. Wonder if noise complaints were a factor? People moving close to a drag strip and don’t like the noise.

I saw where Pitbull is trying to save the Palm Beach track from closing.

Not sure but after 35 years in operation, you would think that anybody that moved or lived nearby would certainly have been aware there is a race track there. Unless the real estate agent made sure to show the house on a non-race day.

You know what Nigel, yes and no., it's also the sign of uber cheap money building stuff out that may or may not be profitable in the future. Race track land is "underutlized" when folks can build stuff with 2.5% money.

Its a dam shame what they do with the land that they acquire from the racetrack's.Some times it's just a track owners easy way of getting out of the harassment from the local homeowners.Sometimes that land just sits there un-used after a race track sale. I hope for yours and Houston's sake that a new track opens up closer than the 250 miles away that the Dallas track is.
