I would like to thank all of the TC members for helping me along the way in building my old 1969 Chevelle. I have had this car for over 10 years and never did anything with it till I got onto TC. Now the project is moving along a very good pace.

To those that maybe interested.
This is what I had to start with. -- 2007 --

And this is now... --2008--

As you can see I don't have a garage. All this work has been done in my little tent. I have had to buy lots of extras tools. But I needed them to get the job done. Still much cheaper than farming the work out.

I have made a few mistakes alone the way. But none to costly. TC has been a fantastic resource for helping to keep me going to to try and do it right the best I can with the tools I have on hand.

To any new members reading this. You don't need a big fancy shop to see your dream car come to life. Yes it helps but it can be done with out it. Make a plan and stick to it.

I'm hoping by summer end to have all but the paint work done.
Again TC'ers thanks for helping and putting up with me.

Why move it? It's not a restoration, it's a rod. You getting picky about things like the date codes on those spark plug wire looms?

Looks like your work is excellent, a great example of what can be done without a big garage, massive Snap-On tool boxes, TIG welders, etc, etc.

Lookin good Mike! without the help of TC and fellow racers, I wouldn't have come as far or as well as I have. still a ways to go, maybe one day I'll be the fastest, nose heavy, iron headed, stock suspensioned red pick-up on the site :D.

Hey Mike, nice job! This is a "performance" build so it belongs here. Was it originally phantom green? It will be a very nice ride when done. What color are you going to paint her? Of course I happen to like 69's

Yes it used to be phantom green. 90% of it, came off with a power wash...lol

As to what color to paint her is still up in the air. But it will be any color but Blue. Ever notice how many 69's are painted Blue..???

I may run a poll too see what TC members think would be a good color. I like so many of them. Silver, Red, Orange, Jade Green. The car is 75% track 25% street. My kids have all grown up and moved out. So this would be a great way for the wife and I to have some fun in the summer time. Drag racing. It will never be the fastest. But thats not the point of this build.

Thanks for your kind comments guys. I'm at that point in the build, I need a little boost from others that have gone down this same road. But I'm starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel.

They had a nice Red in '69. Of course you step back to '66 and paint it Aztek Bronze. You'd never see another '69 like that. Look at CDN 66's car for what the color looks like.

Mike what headers did you go with to clear your angle plugs?

Dave
Look in my Sig..
But their not very good for clearance.
#1 was real bad. Had to do a little hammer time.
About 10 -15 years ago you could buy headers that had removeable tubes for doing some pipe mods. I don't see them any more. Because #2 tube on these headers is in the way of 3 plugs. But not very bad.

Way to go man! You must be limited in working in the winter due to the coldness factor in Alberta...

I just finished up my interior and next up vac lines&Lokar TH-400 downshift controller..

What's wrong with blue 69's? JK. With a name like Big Red, you know what colour to go. Car is looking good. Reminds me of my car 7 years ago.

Your right on about the winter. So I just spent my time and money getting parts. And asking lots of questions on TC...
