I started out just trying to get horn working and found my upper bearing on column is shot. Hard to find info but it looks like the bearing is pressed into the "cast" bearing support then installed onto shaft???? I have modified a puller to pull the support off but am afraid it may break doing so. Is this the proper way or is there another way??? Also, someone on another sight had said to just repack the bearings with grease put on upper race and thrust washer, good to go. If anyone knows please let me know...PS column still in car, floor shift, non tilt. Thanks

usually a puller is only needed to get steering wheel off. The bearing should be a tight slip fit- a little penetrate should ease the job. Columns are a lot like a puzzle, look it over closely and find what is holding it together. If the balls and separator are all there, you can grease it up and run it
