It was hard to start on 3 trys and than started and would idle for about a second than quickly shut off. The engine kept doing that. So one time I gave it a little gas after starting and it would hold till I let it idle than it quickly shut off again. Than I got it started and kept the pedal at above idel rpm and put it in gear and took off for a few feet and it quickly died, like some electrical thing instantly kills the engine. The next time Is tart it keep it above idle and put it in gear and give it more gas. This time it would kill come back on kill came back f0r about may 6 times till it killed completly. What ever is happening is screwing my Alarm up (viper). My thoughts were thats the problem, the alarm. BUT, now trying to start truck, and I'm going into a no electric at all condition. No lights, no igniton, nothing. Than after a while it will come back and truck will even start and idle again. I'm afraid to move it being afraid to be stuck.
I can hear the fuel pump working when engine is on.
Any thoughts what could be happening here?

Battery connections on GM vehicles can cause them to die. Check all other connections also.

I would bypass the alarm also, just to make sure that is not the prob.

My parents had one of those junk remote start systems(bulldog). It was leaving them stranded till I pulled the relays to disable it.

if its a vortec engine there is a ground on the thermostat housing that might be broken, also check to see if the mass air flow sensor dirty or even disconnected
Thanks Edel. I checked Mass A F S and its very clean. Checked and retightened ground wire at thermostat.

Marty, I cleaned the Batt post.

Heres whats happening. I go to the truck this morning before these checks and the truck is working normal. Starts right up and first try. Idles correctly.
After the above checks I put it in gear and drove about 40 feet (worried of getting stuck down the block). It worked fine. So I'm not 100% sure the problem is solved. One of the items checked from above suggestions may have added to the repair, but I don't know.
As of now the truck acts like there never was a problem, except i haven't taken it for a ride.

My son's '98 Blazer would die on him occasionally. Sometimes it would start right up again, sometimes he would have to wait then it would start. Just a loose cable at the battery.
Hey Hank, my cables were tight but the + needed a little cleaning. Hope it continues to work. Could you make it over here and take it for a long test drive by yourself?

Took the Suburban for a ride and everything is working normal. I don't really think I was going to find a problem on the ride. Its the starting that had the issue. I have started and restarted the engine numerous time without incident..
I would have to think one of the items that you guys suggested may have been the problem . So far so good for now.
I really appreciate you guys jumping in with suggestions. Thanks alot.
I'll update this thread at a later date.

Hank, I have to think that when you were here in March, and you rode in the Sunburban, you left a Hex on it...........

Well its been a week now and no return problem. Each thing that was mentioned that the problem could be, I went over it, checked it and cleaned or adjusted. The Sub is not an everyday driver, so its only been started a half and hand of times.
Hopefully the problem is solved.

Thanks again for your help, except to Hank :D
