87 chevy 1/2 ton

I picked up an 87 chevy 1/2 ton 2 WD with a 4.3 fuel injected V6 in. This is an overdrive truck. My question is, what transmission is under it? I'm assuming a 700R4, but not sure. Is so, is this trans. worth hanging on to? Thanks

I found the MXO code on the glove box door. It must be a 700R4. Thanks
