I wouldn't bid much more than where you're at right now. Not sure how you came up with a $5-6K price to duplicate it. A set of blower carbs can be had for $1200 The blower kit (manifold, blower, idle, pulleys) is about $3500. You are not in bad shape right now but, I wouldn't pay more than $3,500 - $4,000for it, I guess it depends on how bad you want it. Just remember you will still have to shell out quite a few more bucks to get it ready to run. Linkage ~ $100-200, scoop ~$200, Fuel lines ~$200.

Is that a new case or rebuilt GMC case?

sit tight

Contact many of the blower providers.... The blower shop etc.. and ask what they have on trade ins etc...

The 8:71 is indeed a popular set up (not an oddity)... so they made for than one if you catch my drift.

at first i went to their website and started adding for individual pieces. NOT the way to go. i'm NOT bidding anymore. it seemed like a killer deal at the time but not so great now. the guy is local and has built some killer mopars. i eventually want to build a blower motor and thought i was getting a much better deal. hopefully i will get outbid. thanx for the input. mike

Mike,
You are fine at the price I saw (just over $3100), you are getting a good deal at that price. I just wouldn't spend too much more. One things for sure the first time you fire up your engine with the blower on it the price will be forgotten.

are you any good at crawling and begging forgiveness? You'll need to get good at it if you're going to make $3100 impulse purchases. :)

the funny thing is that i'm the last guy to do anything like this. my wife was cool but could'nt believe i did it! i generally am always the one to go without. about 4 years ago when she did the bills i had a huge mess to clean up. her spending was way out of control. it took me about 2 years to clean up the mess. she said that i deserve it and not to worry. i felt bad because i've read her the riot act in the past. man did i dread telling her. i guess i'll be selling a lot of my spare parts. i just hope its all the seller says it is. thanx mike

Hey Ratuned,

Congrats on your purchase!!:hurray:

I just thought I'd throw this out there.............I have a sweet 468 cu in. short block that is setup for a blown motor that I would sell at a STEAL of a price. It came out of my boat and only has 3 hours run time and is still together on the engine stand.

- Mark 4 4-bolt ARP studded block
- Eagle 4340 crank with extra key way cut for blower application
- Dual keyway cut BHJ SFI balancer with extra keyway cut
- Eagle 6.135 4340 H-beams
- Ross blower pistons

All the work was done by George over at Clay Smith in Buena Park, Ca
I really need to off this stuff as I don't plan on building another blower motor.........it's just sitting in my garage. I'd also be interested in selling just the rotating assembly too. I could use the block down the road. PM if you are interested or anybody else for that matter..................I will make you a killer deal........

Congratulations. YOu will love it. I have been running a blower motor for 8 years now and would never go back to naturally aspirated.
On the street you need power valves and that means intake manifold referenced carbs. You run fairly lean and when the boost starts the power valves open and richen the mixture.
I get about 15 mpg with 50% highway and town driving. They don't overheat, foul plugs, easy starting and sure produce the torque.
With a blower motor you can run the biggest heads you can find and still have low end torque.
I do run a different belt setup then most and it shortens the blower snout about 2 inches and allows me to mount the accessories low and very short belts.
This is my old 460 with an 8-71. I presently run a 540 with the same blower. I run 15% overdrive or 12 pounds of boost on 93 octane fuel
