Unless the car was built in Canada, there really isn't anyway to brake it down that deep. That car you bought was reported to be blue with silver trim originally. There's a guy in FL. that has a blue and silver 454 4 speed A/C car with about 30-40K miles on it. It was a feature car in Hemmings Muscle Machines a couple years ago. His car is a swivel bucket console car. I happen to own a mostly untouched loaded Canadian built 454 4 speed car with 18,000 miles on it that has about everything but A/C. The buildsheet on the car is 2 pages long. Any original 73 SS 454 with a 4 speed is very rare indeed. You did very well on that purchase by the way! Very neat car. Good luck with it!I just bought a 73 Chevelle SS 454 4 speed. I found out that the 454 4 speed is 600 built. Does anyone know where I can find out how many of these had factory A/C and bench seat? :beers:
For me it is presented as only an illusion and if used to increase value it is fraud. This is a nice car at good value.I am not sure where the numbers come from. That is just what I was told. With any numbers different combinations can be put together and come up with 600.
The 600 figure is for 454 cars only and is accurate. There were only 8 built in Canada according to the GM Histaorical info that I have on my car which was obtained directly from GM (George Zapora). No fraud committed. Most of us into these cars that have been into them for some time now, know this to be true. Where did you come up with your 22,+++ figure for 454 cars? Just curious. That's about the total of SS cars with all engines, so couldn't be the total of 454 SS cars as most all were small block cars. For me it is presented as only an illusion and if used to increase value it is fraud. Here you go. Now show me how to get 600 from this. Being built in Canada has nothing to do with total production and I must have missed where this was built there. This car is advertised as being rare with invalid production figures. What else would you call it. SS production was 28647 under Z15.The 600 figure is for 454 cars only and is accurate. Actually on 1973 Chevelles, the M21 Muncie was only available behind the LS4 454. The M20 was a Saginaw and only went behind the L48 350. Regardless the 4-speeds were listed as only being available on coupes (or El Caminos) with F40 suspension (or on an SS)....
4 speed production is rare but no way to tell how many were put behind a Chevelle with a 454.
