Yes , I'm looking for another car... but this ones not for me, I swear....well sorta. I'm looking for a driver for my oldest son.... and not sure how, but I convinced my wife to let me go this way for him. Also not really sure this is the best way to go for a young driver, ..but as long as it's safe and dependable.....who's gonna be better than him in the H.S. parking lot next year.
It's a 72 Malibu 350... 1D37H2B, which I've deciphered to be a Malibu Concours Estate 350 2 barrel with I believe a TH 350 tranny.Shift indicater has L1, L2, D ? Car is supposed original block, tranny, 74,000mile car, purchased from the original owner, original sheet metal, filler yet to be determined, but pretty straight, power steering, no power brakes, Code 36 Paint ( spring green metallic) w/Black vinyl roof, all original interior & carpet, black vinyl bench seat, Very original car, original spare, stickers , lots of engine compartment seems original, intake and carb has been changed, but waiting to hear if they're still around. Runs & shift's good, but has tranny leak, horn& signals aren't working, only high beams...hopefully just bulbs, radio not working. He's suppose to clean up the motor and undercarriage so I can try to look for #'s and source of the tranny leak. Underbody was undercoated but what I was able to see looked just to be surface rust , no rot.
Where should this car be priced....ball park?

Pics would be a blessing, maybe $4k?

The shift indicator you mentioned denotes a TH350 unless it's been swapped.

I hope your son has enough smarts in him to not want to race every other car/drive 100 + mph because he has an old classic...been there, done that.....
