[72SSAbody]

I was wondering what is the factory "correct" SS headlight bezels in '72. Is it the type that is blacked out in the middle or the all chrome type? Please educate me about my chevelle since I wasn't blessed to be on this earth during the peak of musclecar madness.

I don't know about the SS, but my 72 Malibu has the all chrome bezel around the headlight.

I have a 72 SS454 and mine are blacked out. Don't think I have ever seen a 72SS that had the plain chrome bezels.'

As far as I can tell the 71's were chrome and the 72's are black by looking at some old photos.

Mine on the 72 are black and I'm fairly certain they are original. A friend of mine had a fairly unmolested 72 SS convert and it had all chrome ones, often wondered, but never thought to ask here! Does anybody know for sure??? The chrome one year, black the next scenario would fit GM.

My 72 Malibu has all chrome bezels. I believe the Heavy Chevy's came with the black bezels. (the ones I've seen did)

I recently bought a 1972 Simoniz wax ad (because it had a golden brown 72 Malibu on it) and it shows the black ones on it.

Maybe they were changed during that model year like the parking light lenses.
