I own a 72Chevelle and had original column shifter, but now I have new console and floor shifter for Th350. 2 Things: Shifter it's self is dissassembled and bought it that way. how does it go together? Where on the floor pan do I bolt up shifter bracket and console? Thanks

I think you're gonna need to find a shop manual with an exploded diagram to assemble your shifter, or else find a buddy with an assembled one you can look at.

As far as mounting the shifter, some folks say the floorpan is dimpled, but I didn't see that with my 69. You have to position the console and shifter very carefully and mock it up with the seats installed (very important) before you start drilling.

I took some photos of mine when I had it apart, I even took the shifter apart and painted it. email me and I can send you some photos, but you will have to get the measurements (inches) from the manual. Pictures will probably be helpful, but 1) are you getting one of those new shifters I see advertised and 2) what are your plans for the shift cable and wiring harness

You can get the shift cable from Year One, and I believe they are still available from any GM dealer as well. Somebody is reproducing the console harness as well, I bought a used console from Hinshaw's Chevelle Parts in North Carolina and it came with a new wiring harness.
