'72 Chevelle Malibu, automatic, AC, with 350 engine. The pink wire going from the coil's positive post to the fuse block beside the emergency brake gets so hot it melts plastic when the ignition switch is on but the car is not running. It is not melted and shorting out on neighboring wire in harness. Continuity test shows continuity from coil end of wire to all fuses in fuse block. Removing the fuses one at at time does not prevent the wire from getting hot. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

A po[nts distributor doesn't like what you are doing. How long does it take before the plastic gets hot? Try disconnecting the wire from coil (+) and see it stays cool.
