I recieved a 1972 Chevelle from a bodyman friend and wanted to know if there was a way to tell if it is an NOS grill or a reproduction. He has had it in his shop for about 15 years or so, in great shape. It obviously will not be correct for my 71, so I just want to make sure I am providing an honest representation when I sell it (to obtain $$ to purchase the correct 71 grille)

Most molded plastic parts that are oem will have a variety of numbers molded into them. This would include part numbers (seven digits) and other things like cavity number and so on. I would guess that an aftermarket part might not have that.
