The tach in my '71 SS reads high. At idle it's close to correct but gets increasingly more incorrect as the revs climb. The needle reaches redline at what i'd assume is about 3500rpm. The circuit board seems to be in good shape and all connections are good. I do have a Pertronix Ignitor in my distrib. however, the problem existed before i installed the Ignitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you are referring to the factory tachometer, If that’s the case I cant help you. After market tach’s come with a cylinder setting 4 / 6 / 8 if this is set wrong it can read as you have described.
