WELL BASICALLY EVERYTHING IS NEW. BUT WHEN I THROUGH ON THE NEW STARTER ABOUT 5 WEEKS AGO IT NEEDED SOME SHIMS BUT I NEVER PUT THEM ON SO I GOT THAT LITTLE GRIND SOUND. NOW I TURN MY KEY AND NOT A THING HAPPENS NO SOUND OR ANYTHING TURN A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND HOLD IT DOWN MAYBE 2-3 SECONDS LATER IT FIRES UP FINE. ARE THE TEETH MAYBE NOT HITTING RIGHT DO TO THE NO SHIMS? :D

Alright, well when I did the cs alternator conversion I bought a little adapter for it and it came lose so I guess there is my problem but in this process it dropped my amps down to 10.0-10.5 so it just needs some juice and a better adapter. Who sells them? Wasnt it monster something or ... Eh, I cant remember the web address. I know they have them for $24

well it started with jumpers but I didnt let it run more than a minute and it didnt charge enough. I would have left it on but there was smoke coming from the firewall behind the dist. Area it smelled really strange. Not familiar at all! I dont know... this sucks! I did pull my AC recently maybe I left a wire hang....

PK - What's your status on this situation? I can't offer help, but I would like to ask you what kind of starter you purchased and what the noise sounded like and when did it make the noise? I put a new stater on yesterday, and I get a little vuuuuuuu....after the car starts...I put in one shim and the noise still sounds the same at the same time. Any suggestions/guidance?

yeah i havent toyed with shims yet, it just sounds like a little metal chirp, the teeth hitting the engine i guess. It turned out being this weak little adapter for my alternator when i did the non regulator cs conversion for it. it came loose! fixed now... still have to deal with these damn shims... ive seem alot of super light performance starters lately... maybe ill get one of those....
