I was wondering if those that know could answer a question for me.

My current 70 SS LS5 non A/C non cowl induction car has a dual snorkel air cleaner on it. Ive been told those were only for the LS6 non cowl cars.

Which is the correct air cleaner and filter for the car. Ive attached a pic from an original 70 LS5 non cowl induction non A/C car. Is the element supposed to be that tall?

Im thinking yes so it sits up in the hood bulge but am not sure.

Other then the connection to the breather is it supposed to have any other attachments?

Thanks!
Pat

Pat just the connection at the bottom of the base to the passenger side valve cover. Spark arrestor inside. Air filter is about 3" tall.

I think factory element is an AC212CW which is about 3" tall from internet search. Yours looks appreciably taller from pic. I have some new GM AC212 elements in my garage that I can measure tomorrow if you need.

Funny but I never realized the snorkel was for the LS6 without cowl induction only.

Agreed I really like the looks of it.

Here's the current one and the one I just bought. Got the decals too. Going to install it and if I don't like it ill go back to the snorkel one.

As im taking the picture..

Me to Girlfriend: What do you think?

Girlfriend: What do I think of what?

LOL

If thats correct well then thats correct..Its a 1982 block with 148 heads..Im not even sure the car is an SS so I suppose I could put the other one back on but then that would annoy me that its not the way it ought to be.

This whole thing is coming out in January to get rebuilt..it looks pretty but its a dog lol.
