I have a 70 ss chevelle that i recently purchased restored., It has a bench seat and steering column shifter what id like to know is if the 70 years came with this also, besides the floor shifer,and bucket seats.

Yes, all SS's could have had a bench with a column shift. I recently purchased a 70 with buckets and console but prior to that I had looked at several bench seat column cars all matching numbers with build sheets - true SS's.

SS396, Seen and read abut a few cars that had a bench seat and automatic on the column. A friend of mine just sold one like that and he used to get hasseled all the time that it wasn:t a reall SS car ,but it was.

A build sheet will tell you how your Chevelle left the factory. Did you get one with your car?
As for your question, yes, bench seats and a column automatic really did come on the SS cars. My friend has/had a beautiful LS6 car, black bench, column shift, stripe delete.
Buckets, consoles, stripes were all options on these cars, for a few dollars more.
