Thanks to Steve S http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223641 I got my sweep dash fully lit. I've noticed that the dash gear selector (TH-350) is still quite brighter than the dash as well as not as green in hue as the rest of the instrument cluster. The font colors, however, do match the speedo so no chance it's a '71 or '72 lense.

Is it normal for this to be so bright? I haven't looked at the bulb in there yet, but recall there is a wattage difference between a 194 & 168 which have the same form-factor as the stock 1895. BTW: Here's a link to what bulbs you car takes: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/

If you are talking about a column-shift, dash mounted gear selector then.....I noticed the same exact thing when I changed my bulbs in my '70 Malibu!

Don't use a 168 EVER, (where a 194 bulb should be). The 168 draws more current and gets much hotter (will melt things). I certainly did not like when the selector indicator had more of a stark harsh lite to it, I was expecting a nice soft glow that didn't over power the "greenishness" of the rest of the dash. I plan on either finding a higher voltage bulb (which will result in a dimmer glow, or build my own custom lite shield inside the housing. Will post results later.

I'm wondering if this would do....
#655 wedge bulb

It would be running @ approx. half the voltage it's rated for, don't know if it would be too dim or just right.
