Just replaced my two front speakers. I thought two speakers meant the car was stereo but a helpful chevelle owner told me that A/C equipped 70-72's had to have two speakers because the A/C ductwork took the space usually reserved for the single center speaker. I bought replacement speakers from a Chevelle parts house and have seen the same speakers in several catalogs. They are not the original oval shaped original speaker but smaller with new speaker technology. If you are not an original parts person, no one can see these speakers, they are made for the 70-72's and they bolt right in to the original space. Sound great too!
70 Front Speakers
Can anyone tell me which stero speakers will fit in a 70 dash. Who makes them, and how much $$. One side looks to have plenty of room for about a 3" round or oval, but the other side looks tight. Thanks for the help.

I just put 4x6's in the front of my '70. Also for $29.95, Year One sells a set that include brackets and all.

Check out a Crutchfield catalog. I ordered a set of Infinity speakers that were the same size as the stock ones and they fit pretty good. I think they were around $129.
