So I have ordered the missing weatherstrip channels for the driprail/door jamb area and trunk area. What is the method for installing the weatherstriping? Does it just push into place or should I use weatherstrip adhesive? Is there a specific method to use? Are there any special fastensters I need?

As far as I know the channels get mounted to the car and the weatherstriping just pops into them (both at the trunk and the doors). Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Jon, when I disassembled my roof rail drip channel, I made a sketch because I knew it would be a year before I went to reinstall everything. Attached is the sketch. I am not saying it is right, but it is what I found when I took everything apart. Between the metal channel and the roof, there was a rubber strip, much like a fuel tank anti-squeal strip. That was also sandwiched between the A pillar and the A pillar backing plate, but only at the top inch or so. The rest of the seal was composed of a thick white caulk. The metal weatherstrip channel was attached to the roof and the A pillar backing plate with screws. A black caulk held the rubber strip to the metal weatherstrip channel. White caulk held the chrome trim to the driprail. I hope you still have the metal channel, because I don't think they are being reproduced.

Jon, when you do the trunk weatherstrip, you have to orient the weatherstripping in the correct direction. The "square" part press fits into the trunk channel, and the lip faces "out." You should first put some adhesive in the channel, then put some on the weatherstrip in workable sections, say 3 feet at a time, and press the strip into the channel. I haven't done the door yet. I am sure that will be big fun.

Thanks guys! I don't know about the caulk under the chrome trim though.......Mine just clips in on the drip rail and I've seen it done on other vehicles the same way. As far as the sealant under the the weatherstrip channels, I'm not sure if its necessary, but we shall see. I figured weatherstrip adhesive would have to be used though to adhere it to the channel. I'll see if its necessary on the trunk as well.

Yeah, the white caulk under the thin chrome trim is not necessary, but it was there when I removed mine, which is why I documented it. I am sure the tension of the crimp is enough to hold it in place.
My trunk strip would never stay in place without adhesive... not in the corners anyway. The channel widens too much on my corners.

Never had a problem with my corners, it fits under the lip and stays in place.

Hmm, weird. Actually, now that I think about it, my corners are aftermarket. They are part of the rear panel I welded in. That is probably why they aren't crisp and why the weatherstrip doesn't fit tightly into them. Check out that photo again and you can see half of the bottom of the strip. Upper corners, that is. The lowers are fine.
