A friend of mine called me this morning and he has the itch to buy a new Corvette and wondered what I thought he could get out of his Chevelle. It started out life as a rust free Texas car, a light green 307 Malibu. It is now Cortez silver with black SS stripes and a cowl Induction hood, black bucket interior, TH400 with a console. All `70 Ss stuff was used to clone it (dash, etc.) It's a factory a/c car. None of the a/c stuff is on the engine but it's all still in the dash and firewall. It's got a strong 454 with professionally ported 781 heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM cam and intake, headers, 3" flowmaster exhaust and an 850 Demon carb. The engine was professionally rebuilt as was the trans and 12 bolt rear. It now has 3.42 gears, brand new posi, axles, bearings, everything about 2 yeasr ago. It has a small converter, by small I mean it's somewhere around a 2,200 stall, probably a 12". The car runs strong and drives great but it's loud. Paint is probably 15 or more years old now but it still looks very good. It was never a show car paint job but very nice for a driver. Wheels are Weld Pro Stars, 15x10 rears and I think 15x7 fronts. Might be 15x8 in the front, I can't remember now. Tires are 275/60 rears and I'm unsure about the fronts but they fit the car nicely. I'm thinking 215/60??? I don't have any pictures other than an old snapshot that I could probably scan if I can find it but I'm in FL and he's in southern WI so I can't get anymore anytime soon. And he's not into computers so............ Judging from my description, whaddaya think it might be worth?

$20K? Plus or minus $5K here's why-

In my mind I see two cars-

1) Well done, tasteful and has the look and feel of a mostly stock appearing 1970 with a mean 454 in it.

2) Chromed out engine, stinkbug stance, cobbled together clone car with an older clapped out paint job on it.

My imagination running wild there- sorry.

Hard to say... see if he can take some pics with his cell phone or something and send them to you to post here. Maybe he has a neighbor or family member that can take a couple pics and text them to you.

I'm not sure how this is going to turn out but I found 2 photos of the car taken on one of our fall cruises. The suspension isn't modified, it just sits a little higher in the back because of the tires being taller.

If its a rust free 70 it might surprise you. It's worth what someone will pay. Good color....
