I have an audio shop and we were working on this chevelle. From the begining, something didn't seem right with the key cylinder when starting the car. When the key is turned, the dash light and radio come on, but the car doesn't attempt to start. The battery is fully charged. My guess is it is something with the starter or neutral safety, but I really don't know. I tried starting the car car in neutral and jiggling the shifter (automatic shift) but that didn't work. If anybody has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Helo, possible ignition switch failure. it is mounted on the lower part of the column. it can be adjused by loosening the mounting screws and moving it up towards the steering wheel. when you turn the key all the way to the start position is it spring loaded and come back after full engagement. if not t needs adjusting or replacement. check your starter wires down by the starter could have a burnt wire. check coil wire to see if you have power to coil in the start position.could have bad coil if your getting power there and nothing coming out of coil. just a couple of things to check for now, good luck

Surprisingly, as I was writing this, my installer got the car to start. The steering column is adjustable and he just lowered it. The car started right up. Safe to assume there is a cut wire in the column?
