Hi all, I'm pretty new here, have been lurking mostly. I've learned a lot here. now for my question. A guy has a 10 bolt rear for sale that I may buy. He says it is a 3.08 posi from a 70. He has new 3.08 gears for it and the posi seems to be in good shape. Could anybody give me a ballpark idea of it's value? Also what codes should it have if it's what he says it is? This is just for an old driver would the rear have more value to someone with a 70 velle for restoration or is that not a big deal to most folks? Sorry for the ramble. Thanks!!!

Most people are looking for the 12 bolt rear end. The 10 bolt doesn't have much value unless it is a posi, like the one that you are looking at. Just a guess, but I'd say about $600 tops if it is in very good condition.

"he has new gears..." Does this mean "some assembly requiered?"

I scrapped an extra 2.73 open 10 bolt... So that would be value = $0...(I have a 12 bolt and a 3.08 open 10 bolt, I don't need 3 rears...)

If it's ready to bolt in I would agree that $600 tops. That assumes it's been rebuilt. I'd say $300 - $400 for a good used rear.
