I was wondering which of these will keep the motor the coolest, yet not robbing much horse power?? I currently run the 5 blade thermo fan now,but have the other 2 sitting around which will be the best to put on???????

Avoid the flex fan as they can fly apart if they are not matched to the engine properly. And it is likely that they will consume more power than the thermo clutch fan. If your present 5 blade fan is working OK, why change? I suspect that if you are having overheating problems in Canada, it is not your fan.If you are not having problems, keep it as it is.

Everyone keeps saying flex fans fly apart. I had a 6-blade 17" steel flex fan on my Chevelle for 13 years and never experienced a problem. Then again I don't race mine and the engine rarely sees the right side of 4000 too. I just replaced it with a slightly smaller 16.75" fan for clearance. I guess time will tell on the new one.

i have run a flex fan(18.5"-6 blade) on my BB buick 462" for 20 years(up to 6,000rpm's).....i inspect it when i have it off,the stock flex fans from the factory are the ones with the problems.i use the one rated for 10,000r's,i just got a clutch fan(thermal)like they tested in car craft, useless in temp's over 80 deg.,i was shocked....give me my flex fan any day....the power not lost from hot engine temps will offset any loss from the flex fan

I don't understand why people give flex fans a bad rap, I've got one with no shroud and my engine temp never goes past 200, and it's a 190 degree thermostat. I'm happy

I do have a question about those electric fans though, if you use a Mark VIII fan do you still have to have your manual fan too?
Just thought I'd ask, sorry for busting in on your thread.
