Can someone out there help me out, I'm thinking about purchasing a M20 for my 69 SS chevelle. All the information I have seen on this site and on the web tells me I'm looking for a 3925660. In my 69 Chevelle assembly manual and my Chevelle SS Restoration guide they both tell me I'm looking for number 3950301 for a L35 engine ? Can someone help clear this up. thanks

You're comparing casting numbers with part numbers. The 3925660 mentioned is the casting number on the main case for 68-70 Muncies while the 3950301 is a part number for the M20 for RPO L35 and RPO L48.

Differences in all the 69 M20s is probably internal only since they all fit the same case. A Muncie guru may jump in here and correct me but who's going to look at the inside anyway? :)

Just be sure you get a 69 or newer side plate. The shift arms on 68 and older side plates connect via a stud and nut arrangement while 69 and later use a bolt into the side plate to hold the shift arms. See http://www.chevellestuff.com/generic/muncie.htm for more details.
