I did do a search, but nothing I seen concerning my question.

I've got a 66' coupe with a 68' to 72' 12 bolt posi rear end; as you all know, this rear end is aprox. one inch longer than my original.

Will Crager 15x8 rims (standard offset) with 275/60r/15 tires fit under the rear wheel wells? The kid at the tire shop says "Yes", but I'm not so sure. I know they'll fit on the 68' to 72 models, but what about my 66'? The difference being that I don't have the original rear end which is one inch shorter.

Thanks to all.

What's the back space of (standard offset) 15X8 Cragar's?

It will need to be 5-5.5" to fit 275/60X15 tires on a stock height/stock bodied 66-67 Chevelle with a 68-72 rear end. My guess is standard offset Cragar's have the wrong offset.

I run 275/60X15 M/T street radials on my 1967/68 rear end with 15X8 rally's with 5" bs. My car sits at normal/stock height with no rubbing issues.

Good luck!

I forgot to include which Cragers and the stock offset:clonk: Man, I really dropped the ball on that one. Sorry for the confusion.

Tod,
I have a 66 with a 70 chevelle rear. I have 15X8's with 5.0 BS in the rear with 275/60/15's and 1" drop springs. I have no issues at all. It's all about the backspacing when centering the wheel. Pics in signature.

Thanks- I sent you a PM. Kid at store says he can't get a Crager classic (old school 5 spoke rim) in a backspace of more than 4.250 :(

I may go to Weld Pro-Stars, but I do want chrome rims, not the polished aluminum....just a personal preference.

Thanks
Tod
