Frank it has been my experience that the area you are selling in has a lot of influence on market value, here in AZ complete working 68 - 72 12 bolt assemblies are still selling in the $400 - $600 range, with a few going for more.

If it is for sale put it on eBay and let the market decide or list it in the classifieds. From your reply it seems like you know what you think it is worth.

This is one of those items that will appeal to a very select group, those that are number shopping. If you don't mind sitting on it for awhile, I'd hold out for top dollar, maybe in the $6-$800 range. It will sell, just be patient.

To a guy with a documented 4.10 geared car, it is a valuable and rare item. I don't think very many people were daring enough to order 4.10s. Our 396 car has its original KK rearend and I can't recall seeing another documented car with the 4.10s although there are some out there. If you have the bare housing, you have to consider that the guy has to buy everything inside and that is going to get expensive. A couple of years ago I paid under $700 for a rebuilt non KK 12 bolt rearend but it had a full 4.10 posi and new bearings. Not what the restorer wants but fine for most people who just want to have some fun. I just bought it for a spare because I felt the price was right. I could see paying the other side of $600 for the bare housing if restoring a Chevelle that originally came with the KK rearend. Jacked up wheel hoppers have destroyed more than a few of these housings.

You can't touch any COMPLETE 12 bolt posi here in the the midwest for less than $700-$800...and to have one rebuilt completely (bearings, axles, seals, brakes & set up labor etc) at least an additional $1000 to $1200. So $1700 to $1900 ready to put back in the car... I figure for the rarity of the KK Housing it's worth $800. (Not like it's a run of the mill 2.73 Open 12 bolt housing...)
