Bought a NOS clock for my 70. Pulled the dash and installed it, just to have it quit working in less than a month! Even though it was NOS it was still 25 yrs old when I installed it. Sent the old one off and had it redone still working great 14 yrs later. Thomas

I thought the same thing Fish but my $80.00 repaired clock died after 2 months. A 69 dash is a pain to work on so my clock sits at 11:10 until I tear into it again, I will have it quartzed so it does not quit again.

Could it have been the repair shop?

I dont think all the clocks in a new chevelles went dead after 2 months...

The conversion is a no-brainer to me. The only difference you will notice is that the second hand will spin in a smooth pattern rather than having a brief pause in between each second. I'm very glad I had it done.
still thinking about it...

Its weird...somethings on my car I could care less about changing from original. Other things I dont even want to talk about...

I will think about it I guess...see what I decide...

Shane, I was going to ask you just that question. The clock conversion, is something I think even a concours restoration would get. I look at it the same way as guys who have, say, a stock looking 396, but have done some good internal mods for better performance, like Brad ( 1badss396 ).

I have a clone...

Some repo parts...

alot of added options...

but yet I want the clock to be totally original...:wacko:

I would hate to see you go down the same path I have been! Felt the same way you did and wanted to stay totally original, so I bought the NOS one. After it quit, I was talked into doing the quartz conv., original face, hands and it still works. I do not believe if I did not tell you, you would ever know. Plus, taking the chance of damaging something else pulling the dash over and over did not appeal to me at all! Thomas

My original clock in my 69 did not work all I did was take it apart and clean the inside with my compressed air gently and used some fishing rod oil and powered it up and spun the wheel and it's been working ever since.

I fully understand the original clock thing! When I got my original clock running, I installed a small toggle switch on it and hid from view, instead of just setting in the garage running and wearing itself out, I can turn my clock off and on at will.

Mine is in my console, so it is considerably easier to get to than removing the dash, but it will prolong the life of the clock considerably being able to turn it off.

I was going to try that too...

I hope this is another one of those awesome Brad pointers...like the polished seat belts ! !

I agree with Dan. I pulled the dash from my '69 to repair the clock and amp gauge. Sent them off for repair. Called him next day to do a quartz conversion on the clock. I'm glad I did. There is no indication the clock is not stock except for the smooth movement of the second hand. And I hope I never have to pull that dash out again!

Where were you when I had my dash out and was looking for a clock? I need one.

Hi there Randy...

I have 3 of them...none work yet. I also have an almost flawless factory floorshift gauge bezel...1 broken corner on the bottom...even has the radio knobs uncut...

Dont know what I am going to do with them yet...
