I just got a call from the body shop stating that they installed my GM quarters and repo trunk filler panel. I got there and took a look at the filler panel and it does not sit flush with the quarter panel. The seam closest to the window is flush with the quarter panel but then by the corners of the trunk lid it sits lower. Isn't this supposed to be flush with the quarter panel? I am arguing with the body guy and he is telling me I am wrong, they were like that from the factory. The worst part is that it is all welded in!!

It should be flush. When it drops at the trunk gutter, it's because the entire package tray is down in the back. Did he replace the inner wheelhouses? If so, he probably welded the braces that connect the package tray too low on the inner wheelhouse, thereby lowering the rear of the package tray so that when he clamped the rear window panel to the trunk gutter it dropped below the top of the quarter.

Or, it could just be that he clamped it along the filler panel edge to the trunk gutter first, then welded it, instead of clamping it to the lip on the quarter, then welding it, then clamping it to the trunk gutter and welding it.

I fought with that piece on my 69 for a while until I got it right, so I've experienced all of the above firsthand

Kyle, no he did not install new inner wheel houses but did install outers. But I think you might be right about how he initially clamped it down. Its low at the trunk and flush at the back window. I'll buy a new filler panel but I hope he'll make it right and fix this on his own dime.

Oh, and I just saw you guys opened a new location near me in Lansdale. I may need some new tail pipes made since I screwed mine up :beers:
We have always been in this area. We were 3 miles north about 3 years ago. Stop on by and ask for me (Brandon)
